Are there geographical requirements for ALAMO’s services?
No. Although about 60% of our clients come from Petersburg, we’ve worked with individuals from many different localities and counties. No one is turned away based on where they live. Is there a cost for ALAMO’s services? The cost to reside at the Alamo is $100 per week. There is no fee for group counseling sessions or meetings. How long can men stay in the residence? The typical stay is three to nine months. Extensions are approved based on recovery progress and individual situations. If I am interested in getting help for my addiction from ALAMO, what should I do first? Contact ALAMO and staff will speak with you to assist in determining what level of care is needed. If I am interested in referring someone to ALAMO, what is the first step? Please have them complete the screening form, which can be downloaded on this website. Do you conduct meetings at the Alamo? Yes, there are AA/NA meetings, cognitive behavioral therapy, and anger management meetings open to the public at no charge. In addition, there are specific house meetings for residents only. Is this program for men and women? ALAMO’s residential program is for men only who are seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. However, there are support meetings open to both men and women, and some peer support groups for women only. Is the staff Licensed and/or certified? Yes, the Executive Director is Licensed and certified. The House Coordinator is certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist and Peer Recovery Coach. Can I come to live at the ALAMO if I do not have a job? If an individual has a sincere desire to be clean the staff will conduct a screening and the determination will be made based on a person’s specific needs. What if I am on disability? You will be required to participate in treatment and provide service work in the community or at the center. Do I have to be clean to come to ALAMO for help? No, but you must have a desire to get clean. Do you do drug and alcohol screenings? Random drug screens are performed for all residents. Can I have visitors while living at ALAMO? For the first ninety days the resident’s focus should be on recovery and no family or friends are allowed to visit. How many men can live in the house? The ALAMO can accommodate up to 12 male residents. Do I have to share a room? If you are a resident at ALAMO you must share a room with another. |
